Stormcryl

Bitumenprimer

Discussion

STORMCRYL is a solvent based acrylic primer which aids the adhesion of decorative acrylic coating onto bitumen surfaces (malthoid, torch-on systems and bitumen emulsions). This solvent based acrylic primer effectively etches with the existing bitumen system creating a strong physical bond. The cured primed surface promotes adhesion of acrylic decorative coatings. The complete system is especially effective when lighter colour (cream and pastel) top coats are used. With the use of STORMCRYL Primer consumers now have a choice when deciding on a colour for their roof finishes. STORMCRYL Primer is available in 25L and 5L containers.

Application

Avoid using STORMCRYL Primer on bitumen systems and bituminous aluminium coatings that are less than 3 months old.
Apply a light even coat of STORMCRYL Primer at a rate of 8m2 /L. Do not allow excess BITUCTYL Primer to pond or puddle on any bitumen surfaces i.e. do not overload the paint brush, ensure that an even thin coat of STORMCRYL Primer is applied.
Being solvent based, if STORMCRYL primer is over applied onto any bitumen surface, the solvent will soften the bitumen compound.
A light coat of STORMCRYL Primer is all that is required.
When applying STORMCRYL Primer use minimal pressure on each brush stroke. A heavy handed brush stroke can soften bitumen surfaces.
24 hours curing time is required before STORMCRYL primer can be over coated.
Over coating must happen within 7 days of the STORMCRYL Primer application.
Do not apply onto wet surfaces.
Do not apply if rain is imminent
Clean up with mineral turpentine.
Technical assistance and applicator training are freely available to all approved users.
